February 10, 2023 at 3:27 amWell the weather has been good to us for a good bit of January and I hope the same is in store for February. Inshore, if you can find fiddler crabs, the sheepshead bite is still good. We’ve been catching them on shrimp, too. Our best catches have come fishing all the heavy structured docks, bridges and of course, the secret spot, the Mayport Jetties. Yellow mouth trout have been the players on the trout scene, but the specks should start getting better as long as this weather stays nice. Plenty of reds in the creeks and along the rocky banks in the river.
Offshore, for the big boats, the wahoo run is in full force. Also some nice catches of sea-bass from 10-20 miles out.
Have fun and be safe out there! Capt. Jeremy Alvarez
