Hit up Huguenot Park to fish the surf on Friday. Had a buddy visiting from out of town and foolishly caved into heading to the beach at the peak heat of the day. It was hot as balls, with nothing biting, so it was pretty miserable until around 5pm. Right when things cooled down, just after peak hide, we threw out a chunk of cut mullet and within minutes the reel was zinging. After a 5-10 minute battle, the shark was landed — a ~5ft Atlantic sharp nose. After suffering in the heat all day, we were ready to call it mission accomplished and headed home.

Nice catch! I’ve fished that spot a number of times. There are some serious holes literally feet from shore!

Thanks, he tasted pretty good, too! Grilled up some shark steak for dinner, made seafood chowder the next day.

Cool, man. I don’t love shark steak, personally, but it’s a fun novelty every once in a while!
