October 27, 2022 at 12:34 amI haven’t been able to hit the surf since the Pompano run started earlier this month, until yesterday. Went to Amelia Island State Park with a buddy in hopes of filling the cooler. The conditions seemed legit. Calm, clean water, and without the blistering heat. We tried to time the early afternoon transition to incoming tide, but weirdly enough, tide predictions were off by like 2.5 hours. Unfortunately, we caught just about everything BUT pompano. A bonnethead, blackdrum, and a handful of whiting and bluefish. A guy just down the beach from us did manage to catch a single pomp.
Still a great day at the beach, but hopefully the pompano cooperate next time out!
